Montreal’s annual Fantasia International Film Festival is North America’s leading showcase of action, horror, sci-fi and generally weird cinema from around the world — and beyond.

On July 21, the second day of the three-week fest, a small EN MASSE team (Carlos Santos, Jason Botkin, Phil L’animal, Rupert Bottenberg and Tyson Bodnarchuk) gathered on the back terrasse of Concordia University’s Hall Building, site of the festival’s screenings and events, and made a pair of eight-foot mutant space monsters materialize in lurid black and white.

The shaped-wood creatures were then installed at the main doors, guarding the gateway between the real world and Fantasia’s realm of the bizarre.
